EVENTS

Silicon Valley Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America

The annual Awards Ceremonies of our nearby Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC Detachments will be held in May. Santa Clara University’s Army ROTC event will be on the campus on May 7 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. San Jose State’s AFROTC event is a Dining Out and will be at Stanford University on May 10 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The Silicon Valley Chapter of MOAA is a major supporter of both programs. We will be awarding a $2,000 scholarship to the outstanding cadet of each school. Other cadets who have excelled will be recognized. This is a great opportunity to meet all the enrolled students.

The graduating seniors will be heading off to their active-duty assignments following their commissioning as Second Lieutenants. We salute them and welcome them to the fellowship of a military career. As a bonus, the new O-1’s are eligible to join the Military Officer’s Assn of America.

If you want to attend the Santa Clara University awards program it will be on campus in the California Mission Room of Benson Center. The San Jose State ceremony will be held at the Stanford Tressider Oak Lounge (Second Floor), 498 Santa Teresa Street. Parking is free in the Tressider Lot. Ticket price is $20 and must be paid via QR Code. For help, text 408 821 6270. Go <HERE> for the QR code.

If you want to attend either, immediately contact our ROTC liaison, Denise McCallaCreary, (CDR USN RET), at via phone at 408 821-6270. Leave a detailed message if she does not answer. Complete information will be provided to member respondents.

Autorama

SVC MOAA is teamed with Mike Hennesy Automotive to produce a fund raiser
to support area Veterans. Autorama 2025 is a car show to be held at the Santa
Clara County Fairgrounds in April. The public is invited to view vehicles of all

This is a 100% tax deductible fundraiser for Veterans.

On December 14, 2024 at 11:00 am, Wreaths Across America will be
remembering veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the
graves of our country’s fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each
and every veteran aloud.

Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation
the value of freedom. It’s the mission of Wreaths Across America.

South Bay cemeteries participating are at Memorial Park, Los Gatos; Gate
of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos; Madronia Cemetery, Saratoga;
Provincetown Town Hall War Memorial, San Jose.
